Apple Crisp. Always reminds me of home. When I was growing up, my Mom used to make us baked apples as a dessert at least once a week. It was a super easy dessert to throw together and definitely always a crowd-pleaser. Haha! I just love the combination of tartness from the apples mixed with cinnamon. It makes me feel so cozy inside! I wanted to re-create that feeling of home, but I wanted to spice it up a little bit. That is where this recipe was created! My little family and I killed it all in one sitting. It is truly irresistible. The candied pecans are a dessert all on their own. I decided to use my beautiful Jazz Apples from Brother’s Produce for this recipe. Their creamy yellow flesh is dense and juicy with an exceptionally crisp texture. Its flavor is the perfect combination a classic low acid sweet-tart apple taste with subtle hints of pear. Jazz apples are extremely firm when first harvested and will soften just slightly in cold storage. Do you have a special recipe that reminds you of home? Please do tell…

- Pink Himalayan Salt
Topping
- 3/4 cup Almond Flour
- 2 tbsp Xylitol Honey Health Garden
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract Spicley Organics
- 1 tsp Almond Extract Spicely Organics
- 1 tbsp Cinnamon
- Pink Himalayan Salt
Instructions
Candied Pecans
- Preheat your oven to 250 degrees F.
- Mix sugar, cinnamon, and salt together in a bowl.
- Toss pecans in the oil. Mix sugar mixture into pecan mixture until pecans are evenly coated. Spread coated pecans onto a baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven, stirring every 15 minutes, until pecans are evenly browned, about 1 hour.
Apple Crisp
- In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with cinnamon and honey, then transfer to a 9 or 10 inch pie dish or baking dish, set aside.
- For the crisp topping, combine all ingredients.
- Drop/dollop the topping all over the apples to fully cover (or as fully as possible) and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes or until the apples are bubbling and the topping is brown and crisp. If the top browns too soon, you can cover with aluminum foil part of the way through.
- Garnish with candied pecans. Enjoy!
